Blanco Elementary School won the District 25-AAA UIL Academic Meet in competition held Thursday, December 11, at Blanco Elementary.
“The students and coaches worked so hard this year!” said UIL coordinator Linda Miller. “That hard work showed in the number of medals and ribbons that the students won.”
“I am so proud of our UIL teams! We received so many compliments from the other schools on our facility and how smoothly the contest ran. We could not have asked for a better day!”
Principal Linda Romano added, “The UIL coaches and students worked and practiced hard all fall, so we knew the teams were strong this year. The final score for BES, however, was nothing short of amazing!”
Blanco’s 602.5 points decidedly outdistanced second-place finisher Comfort’s 336.5 points.
“I couldn’t be prouder of the academic performance of our students,” continued Romano.
“The meet itself was a huge success thanks to our UIL coordinators Linda Miller and Laurie Parker, as well as the efforts of the entire BES staff and Dr. Barton.”
The school celebrated everyone’s effort with a pep rally before the meet, and will celebrate once again at an awards ceremony scheduled for January 20.
