A photographer was rushed to a private airport to board a plane and take pictures of a forest fire. He instructed the pilot to fly to one side of the fire, and then the other. Finally the pilot said, "Why are we doing this?" The man said, "I work for the newspaper and this is my job, just follow my instructions." Then the pilot asked, "So then, you’re not my flying instructor?"
In Proverbs we read, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight." (Proverbs 3:5-6) The object of one's trust must be the Lord. The degree of our trust is with all our heart. The mistake to be avoided is leaning on our own understanding. Should we not always know who the instructor is? Every day and every place we should acknowledge the presence of the Lord. What a difference this could make in life if all our decisions and plans were framed around the truth that God is. Recognizing this truth would lead men into straight paths, righteous paths, and save many a person from ruin. Come and learn from the Lord, the greatest of all teachers. His word is our only guide, and you are welcome to come and study it with us. Your way will be blessed as you hear Him!
