Some housewives compiled a list of things for which they were thankful: 1) For husbands who attack small repair jobs around the house because they usually make them big enough to call in the professionals. 2) For children who put away their things and clean up after themselves. They’re such a joy and you hate to see them go home to their own parents. 3) For teenagers because they give parents an opportunity to learn a second language. 4) For smoke alarms because they let you know when the turkey’s done.
Proverbs 23:7 states, “As a man thinketh in his heart so is he.” Thankfulness in the heart demonstrate itself in a number of ways, not only by the good disposition it produces, but also by what it eliminates, such as general grumpiness, complaining spirit, and a lack of contentment. Thankfulness can and should become a way of life, but like others things it’s not just the right words, but that which proceeds from one’s heart. Following the instruction given in scripture can shape us into a person of thanksgiving. As the word says, “Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice! Let your forbearing spirit be known to all men. The Lord is near. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, shall guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:4-7)
May your Thanksgiving be filled with renewed friendships, love of family, and plenty of good food, and of course above all, the giving of thanks to the Father above!
