Martha Lorraine Penn, 68 passed away peacefully on Sunday evening, November 23, 2014. She had been surrounded by friends and family who filled her hospital room and later her bedroom with love and compassion.
Martha was born in New Jersey on May 28, 1946. She was the fifth of six children. As a young child she moved to Philadelphia, PA with her family. She graduated from South Philadelphia High School in 1964. In early 1966 she moved to San Bruno, California with her family. In 1969 she met and married Preston Penn and moved to San Antonio, Texas. A couple of years later they moved out to the Hill Country to what later became Penn Acers on Rabbit Road.
Martha loved being a Texan. She adored her dogs and living in the country. During her four battle with cancer she has been surrounded by amazing, courageous neighbors who loved her as one of their own. It is only fitting to acknowledge some of these folks with hearts as big as Texas; Troy and Jodi Bates, Catherine Christner, Janice Cuceio, Judy and Jon Edwards. Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Preston L. Penn, and a brother Russell L. Johnson
Martha could always make you smile and laugh. She truly loved all those who made her life complete.
Martha is survived by: Sisters; Elizabeth Gatza of Mission Viejo, GA, and Janet Parsons of San Jose, CA. Sister-in-law Christa Johnson of Livermore, CA. A brother John E. Johnson and wife JoAnn of Hereford, AZ, a sister Sandra Wilkerson of Winter Haven, FL. Step-son Lloyd Penn of Austin, TX and a step-daughter Dixie Grover of Michigan. Seven nieces and five nephews and numerous step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren.
At her request there will be no services held, however donations can be made to Nothin Fancy Rescue Ranch, 1401 Montell Rd, Wimberly, TX 78676.
