The 3rd Annual Blanco Western Showcase took place on the grounds of Buggy Barn Museum November 7-9, and it went off with a bang! We had people from all over the area come join us for a fun-filled weekend with more entertainment than you could imagine. For the great admission price, you could experience every single one of the entertainers; tour the museum, look at the vendors, take carriage rides, look at the future of the old west town and more.
The lineup of entertainment was extraordinary! Our musical talent included Jean Prescott, Mikki Daniel, KR Wood, Geoff Shaffer, Rebecca Henricks, and Craig Carter. They were amazing in their performances, but what topped it off was the Sunday morning church performance when they all joined together and sang “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Will The Circle Be Unbroken.” It was an absolutely amazing display of unity and beautiful harmony.
There were two performances that left people talking about them even after the shows were over. The first was an old west reenactment of “Redemption” with the cast of Ric Maddox (who is co-creator of Dead Men, the series), Craig Hensley (who wrote the script of “Redemption”), Brent Rock, Simone Piaskowski, and our very own city police officer Duke Key. This show was performed in the streets of Buggy Barn’s old west town and the actors displayed extraordinary talent. They joined us from California just for this event. They are already making plans for next year’s showcase to make it even bigger and better. The other performance that left people in awe was Dan Mink, the Rhinestone Roper. Dan and his assistant, Princess Horse Dancer KJ Jones, wowed the audience with their many talents. Dan demonstrated the tools of the cowboy including whips, guns, and his trusty horses Gypsy Rio and Lucky Joe. He had children from the audience join him to learn how to use a lasso, and then had older audience members join him to demonstrate his skills with the bull whip. He was also able to have his horses demonstrate amazing skills that take a lot of time, effort, and dedication. To end his performance he threw knives around KJ who was spinning on a wheel, and then while still spinning, he threw two balloons that she was able to shoot. The audience was holding their breath the whole time!
The Buggy Barn Museum would like to thank anyone who was involved with helping making the showcase a success. We could not have done it without the support of our staff, volunteers, vendors, entertainers, and sponsors. It takes a lot of dedication to bring such a range of talent to Blanco for the Blanco Western Showcase, and we hope that we get more people to support us for next year. We are already in the process of planning, so if you are interested in helping, please contact us at the Buggy Barn Museum.
