The drive to Kevin Fowler’s ranch, located just minutes outside of Wimberley, is the first clue that the journey will be worth it. Gently rolling hills, the gorgeous native Texas trees, and the two-lane highway lead the way to a new wedding venue that has been molded by the country music singer and songwriter’s own hands.

Rustic Ranch, located at the very end of Deer Lake Road, is 130-acres of an oak-covered oasis, a place where Fowler and his family escape to, and now, have decided to share.

In January of this year, Fowler decided to turn the front 6 acres into a beautiful venue for small weddings. A collector of historic buildings, Fowler envisioned the property for what it could be, and then, gathering a great team, set out to create it.

Kevin Fowler said that growing up he and his dad always had a project going – he loves restoring old structures. “I can’t just sit still.”

There are four buildings on the property, and only one is original. It is the centerpiece- the dance hall. Formerly a goat barn, Fowler created the perfect space for two-stepping, complete with neon signs and a rustic bar. Booths line one wall for those wishing to take in the scene.

Outside, guests can opt to enjoy the starry skies on a rock patio, which has enough space to seat a lot of people, as well as host a DJ for the night.

Up on the hill, looking down on the entire venue, is the bride’s quarters. A small two-bedroom historic home that was brought to the ranch from Victoria, Texas, has been transformed into a luxurious suite perfect for the bride to relax and prepare for her big day.

The groom’s quarters, located at the base of the property, is an 1800s log cabin that was brought to Texas from up north. Even though it is a simple one-room cabin, the décor is tastefully done, and the space feels just right. Front and back porches add to the overall appeal of the building. Fowler admitted that it was his favorite of all the buildings on the property.

A fourth and final building houses bathrooms, but it was brought to Rustic Ranch from La Grange; it was originally the home of share croppers.

Majestic oaks sprinkled around the venue offer a beautiful backdrop, and the property has been carefully landscaped to create a comfortable yet elegant canvas that can be transformed into the perfect place to say ‘I do.”
