For the second straight week, the Blanco Panthers steam rolled a district opponent to improve their district record to 2 and 0. This time, the Panthers defeated the Nixon-Smiley Mustangs for an easy 56-0 homecoming victory. In front of a packed house, the Panthers scored in every quarter and never once allowed the Mustangs to threaten scoring.
Blanco scored on its first offensive play of the game on a 5 yard run from Adrien Dominguez. The touch down would be set-up after Jordon Wagner recovered a Nixon fumble on the Mustangs’ first play from scrimmage. The Panthers added two more scores in the opening quarter as Colton Elrod scored on a 25 yard run and then McKay Adamson found Logan Dodd with a 16 yard touch down pass.
The second quarter continued to be much of the same thing as Adamson hit Jordon Wagner for a 25 yard touchdown pass before Adrien Dominguez and Colton Elrod scored their second touch down’s of the night on runs of 53 and 24 yards respectively.
Following halftime, the only thing that could slow down the Blanco offense was a running clock.
However, the Panthers did manage a score in each quarter as Ryan Ronces joined in on the scoring with touch down runs of 22 and 10 yards each. Kicker Justin Requenes closee out a perfect game going 8 for 8 on PAT’s to make the final score 56-0.
Offensively, Blanco totaled over 400 yards in offense as 10 different Panthers carried the ball and contributed to more than 300 yards on the ground while picking up 21 first downs.
On the defensive side of the ball, the Panthers allowed just 28 yards in offense and only 3 first downs while forcing the Mustangs to punt 8 times.
The Panthers will be back on the road for the next two weeks as they head south of San Antonio to take on the Karnes City Badgers and Poth Pirates. The game this Friday at Karnes City will see one team suffer their first loss of the season as both teams come into the game at 7 and 0. In district play, the Badgers have defeated Nixon-Smiley and Natalia. The winner of this Friday’s game will obviously take over sole possession of the district lead and be one step closer to clinching a play-off berth while also having the inside track at the district title. Kick-off at Karnes City is set for 7:30.
