Moses Harry Hesskew, “The Watermelon Man,” 80, of Blanco, formerly from Floresville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 11, 2014 surrounded by his family. Funeral services were held at 10am Tuesday, October 14th at Blanco Cemetery. Visitation was held on Monday from 5-7pm at Crofts-Crow Funeral Home in Blanco, Texas.
Moses was born on November 20, 1933 to Henry and Hattie Hesskew. He was the next to youngest of 7. His career involved truck driving and selling watermelons on the local square. He was a very hard working man who worked every day of his life. He will be missed by many, but forever in our hearts! He is preceded in death by his parents, five siblings; Martha, Ruby, Elizabeth, Carl “Buck”, Lucile. He is also preceded by his daughter-in-law, Martha and his granddaughter, Marilyn.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years; Peggy Hesskew, his sister; Renie, and 4 children; Alan Hesskew, Sue and Andy Reed, David and JoAnn Hesskew, and Henry and Tina Hesskew. 9 grandchildren; Samuel, Charlie, Daniel, Jessice, Alicia, Brittany, Kaitlyn, Valerie, and Amber and 13 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews and many many friends.
