Sheriffs Respond to Disturbance off Hwy 290 (Community News)

On September 29, 2014, at 4:05 am the Blanco County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a disturbance at a residence off Hwy 290 near the Hays County Line. The caller reported that a person at that location had become violent and was making threats towards him.

Sgt. Thomas Broyles and Deputy Kyle Ciolfi arrived on-scene and made contact with the suspect, who was inside the residence. The deputies attempted to talk the suspect into coming outside and speaking to them. The suspect refused to cooperate and made threats toward the two deputies. Officers from the Johnson City Police Department responded to assist.

The Hays County Sheriff’s office was contacted for assistance. The Hays County/San Marcos Tactical Team and Crisis Negotiation Team responded.

The suspect refused to speak with negotiators. After 7:00 am tear gas was introduced into the residence. Eventually the suspect was taken into custody. He was transported to the Blanco County Jail, charges are pending.

Sheriff Morgan wishes to commend all involved for bringing this incident to a resolution without injury to anyone.
