We’re all ‘fruit cakes’! Ha ha ha, because we all bear fruit, whether we want to or not! We may not want to be a fruit tree, but as far as I can tell from the following Scriptures, we all do bear fruit.
Luke 6:43-45 Jesus said “43 For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. 44 For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes. 45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil:for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.”
Smooth talkers and truth deny-ers; we all know people who sure can tell us what we want to hear! I ask God often for His discernment to recognize deceit in people. A red flag will go up during a conversation, and as the conversation keeps on going, it will slowly go down if the person is telling us what we want, or giving us reasons to excuse that red flag. That’s when we are truth deny-ers, because so many of us don’t want to believe an individual would lie to us, so we make excuses for them.
Don’t tell me you’ve never made an excuse for your spouse’s behavior. Everyone does. We don’t want our kids or parents (or friends) to know if our spouse is misbehaving or just down right mean! So we cover it up, because love covers.
Proverbs 10:12-13 “12 Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all offenses. 13 On the lips of him who has understanding, wisdom is found, but a rod is for the back of him who lacks sense.”
So, I guess I left off on Luke 6:45 above; “the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.”
We speak and we do. What we do is our fruit; what we speak is what’s in our hearts. And then we end up doing what we speak, so we really need to be careful, and listen more than we speak. And we need to take in what we hear, from others, because what they are saying to us, and what we are not wanting to believe, is going to end up being what they are saying, whether we want to believe it or not.
In other words, to you men and women who are in a bad relationship, who are not wanting to believe what that person is telling you, you had better wake up and believe it; because “an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil:for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.” Jesus just said it above!
And “neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.” A bad tree can’t produce good fruit! If it’s bad, it’s bad to the bone! I mean, root!
What kind of fruit is the person you are so hung up on producing? Perhaps it’s time for you to go shopping for different fruit. Fortunately for us there are lots of varieties to choose from! And, there are many stores to shop at, too!
Life is too short; and Jesus said “9 I am the door:by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. 10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy:I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” John 10:9-10
If you are in a destructive relationship I pray that you seek Jesus, and His strength that only He can give you through a solid church home with other people who believe in Jesus, so they can pray for you and with you, to seek help and find a shelter to begin a new life in Christ Jesus, who died that we can all “have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”
