“What better way to get into the Christmas spirit,” said Vickie Pautz, “than to listen to the wonderful music of the season?” The Blanco County Community Choir will perform at the Community Church of the Hills in Johnson City on Friday, December 7th at 8:00 p.m. and again on Sunday, December 9th at the First Baptist Church of Blanco at 7:30 p.m.
The free concerts will feature vocal renditions of “O Come All Ye Faithful” and “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing” with cello and piano accompaniment. “Advent Suite” will feature soloist Sherri Stockman. Other numbers are “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel,” “Carol of the Bells,” “Enniscorthy Carol,” and “Ding, Dong Merrily on High.”
Dorothy Hecimovich performs a beautiful solo in “When the Christmas Baby Cries.” Other numbers include “Candlelight Canon,” “All is Well,” “Angel Voices,” and “Way Down in Bethlehem.” Some numbers feature harp, cello, tambour and violin accompaniment.
The audience will be invited to join the choir for a couple of traditional hymns. Light refreshments will be served after each performance. CDs will be available for purchase, with the proceeds going to help local food banks.
Each year the choir begins rehearsing for the annual concerts in October. “These are your friends and neighbors who come together each year in a spirit of love and fellowship,” says Director Vickie Pautz. “We hope you will join with us in celebrating this joyous occasion.”
Pautz is joined by co-director and founder Beverly Voron. The singers in this year’s choir are Heather Beliveau, Renee Benham, Jane Copeland, Beckie Griffin, Dorothy Hecimovich, Donna Lietzke, Olivia Mulvaney, Evelyn Painter, Gwen Reynolds, Beverly Voron, Paige Whittaker, Cheryl Eckenrode, Lorissa Hinshaw, Janie Jones, Gwen Michal, Priscilla Seals, Sherri Stockman, Rachelle Willgren, Arly Dook, Malissa Mollberg, Joe Raymond, Deb Yorgensen, Wes Courtney, Brian Hecimovich, Edward Hines, John Jones, Keith McClellan, Doug Pautz, Stephen Porter, and Frank Raymond.
