Gordon Duff Biggs, “Dude,” was born on July 18th, 1918 and died on September 11th, 2014. He was predeceased by his parents, Wallie Krueger and James Biggs, and his older brother, James Biggs Jr. Gordon is survived by his loving wife Nancy, of almost 51 years, and his son Gordon Duff Biggs Jr. He is also survived and loved by many additional family members and friends.
A true Texan by birth, and for his lifetime, Gordon willingly shared his many life adventures with any willing listener. He lived a “Huck Finn” like childhood, served as an Army Air Corp bomber pilot instructor during World War II, enjoyed a stint in Hollywood, and traveled the world, from Mason, TX to Australia, experiencing life in a way that most people only dream of. Gordon went on to become a founding partner in the iconic Bun n Barrel Drive-In, a saddle bronc and bull rider in rodeo competitions, hands-on rancher, and successful breeder of race horses.
After retiring, he and Nancy settled in Blanco, TX for the last 31 years of his life, where Gordon enjoyed the hill country, its people, landscapes, and wildlife. He knew no strangers and enjoyed visiting with the locals at the Bowling Alley Café. Gordon will always be remembered for his willingness to help others, in a quiet and generous way. He had great faith in God and was thankful for his many blessings.
While it is impossible to detail the full scope of his 96 years, please take time to joyfully acknowledge and rejoice in the life of Gordon Biggs. A memorial service for family will be held at a later date. Commemorative gifts can be sent to St. Ferdinand’s Catholic Church Building Fund; Blanco, TX.
