Blanco improved to 2 and 0 this past Friday after traveling to Comfort and shutting out the Bobcats 41 to 0. The Panthers dominated from start to finish as the only thing that could slow down Blanco in the second half was a running clock. Overall, Blanco would out gain the Bobcats by almost 300 yards in total offense.

The Panthers wasted little time in establishing control of the game as the Blanco defense forced a quick three out by the Bobcats to give Blanco the ball just inside the 50 yard line. On the Panthers’ first play from scrimmage, Adrien Dominguez sprinted 47 yards for the TD. Logan Dodd then added the 2 point conversion run to make the score 8-0. Then, on the Panthers’ next possession, Blanco needed only 4 plays to score on a 20 yard run by Colton Elrod. Justin Requenes added the PAT to close out the first quarter scoring at 15-0.

The second quarter saw the Panthers score three times. Elrod added his second score of the night on a 16 yard interception return while Dominguez also scored a second time on a 31 yard run. Alex Juarez picked up the final touchdown of the half on a 7 yard run. Following the three scores, Blanco only added a Requenes kick as a missed PAT and an incomplete pass would prevent the Panthers from increasing the score as they went into half time leading 34-0.

Upon returning for the third quarter, a running clock helped speed up the half, but not before Elrod added one final TD on the night with a 34 yard run. Requenes then added his third PAT of the night to close out the game for a 41 to 0 Panther win.

Offensively, Blanco picked up 16 first downs and over 360 yards. Juarez lead all rushers with 101 yards on just 11 carries while Dominguez and Elrod added 87 and 83 yards respectively.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Panthers held Comfort to just 3 first downs and only 76 total yards of offense. In addition to Elrod’s interception return for a score, Jordon Wagner also had an interception that would eventually lead to a Panther TD.

Blanco will now look towards a two week stretch against two strong opponents as the Panthers return home this Friday to host the Luling Eagles before traveling to San Antonio next Friday to take on the San Antonio Christian Lions. Kick-off this Friday at Panther Stadium against Luling is set for 7:30 pm.
