Buggy Barn Museum is proud to announce the upcoming 3rd Annual Blanco Western Showcase on November 7, 8, 9, 2014, on the grounds of the Buggy Barn Museum Complex. The past two years have been extraordinary, and we have appreciated the support we have received, especially from our sponsors. Without our sponsors, we would not be able to bring you a fun-filled weekend.
This year’s showcase will be a three day event, with a few changes. We will not be hosting the Knife and Tomahawk Championship, as they have decided to take the competition back to Austin. However, we are beyond excited to welcome back Dan Mink, the Rhinestone Roper. Dan joined us our first year and left everyone talking about his amazing shows with his talented horse, Lucky Joe. We are so thrilled he will be here this year. His show is one you don’t want to miss! We are also pleased to have Jean Prescott, Mikki Daniel, KR Wood, aka: Camp Cookie, Wild West Shows produced and starring Ric Maddox, co-creator of the Dead Men Series, and more entertainment.
We will have our school day on Friday, November 8. The past two years have been very successful, with the school kids joining us for a fun-filled, educational day. The students (from public, private, or home schooled) get to tour the Buggy Barn Museum, watch chuck wagon demonstrations, watch some great entertainment and more. This day is important to us at Buggy Barn Museum and for the showcase because this is what it’s all about – keeping history alive and letting the students (and others) get a firsthand look at what life was like in the early 1900s.
Saturday will be full of fun entertainment, music, tours, and more. We will have a couple chuck wagons set up cooking meals, but we will not have a cook off. You will be able to go to either or both wagons to get some delicious chuck wagon food. Then Saturday night, we will have a street dance at the Buggy Barn Museum, featuring Craig Carter and the Spur of the Moment Band.
Sunday morning we will have a Cowboy breakfast and Church service. Then we will continue the day with more entertainment and music.
Prices are as followed: Entry Fee: $10/person/day with students/kids 5-18 $5 and kids under 5 are Free! Food from chuck wagons are $5 and the Street Dance is $10/person (unless you are already there for Saturday and have a wristband). The times are Friday from 9am-6pm; Saturday from 9am-12am (dance will start around 8pm); and Sunday from 8am-3pm.
We have a lot of fun and educational events planned for this three day weekend, and will also have some vendors set up. The Blanco County World War II Museum will also be open for tours.
