I love to cook. I love food. Like most of us, we are very busy and pressed for time. Here is a list of gadgets that I think are necessary for a healthy life. Many are very easy to use, not expensive, and you can get the whole family involved. My wife and I have our two and half year old son help put veggies in the bowl and put seasonings away. If you are a busy family, make it a fun event on a weekend where you all prepare food for the week. If you live alone, make it a group thing one afternoon with others. It will save money and yes even time by doing it all at once.

Crockpot: One of the best inventions ever in my mind. You can throw in a bunch of veggies and or beans and make a soup or leave a piece of seasoned meat in the am and its ready for dinner. Dutch ovens are equally as convenient but don’t leave your home while using it in the oven.

Blender: Get a high quality one. This is where you get what you pay for. If you get a larger one you can also utilize it as a food processor. Great for protein shakes or making a great substitute for mashed potatoes (mashed cauliflower with plenty of grass-fed butter).

Knives or Hand Tool: Nothing is more frustrating than trying to cut with a dull knife, trust me...nothing. Invest in a good quality set or get a good hand chopper if you are clumsy.

Seasonings: While not a tool per se, its one of the best investments for your kitchen. Get whatever types you want: garlic, basil, curry, red pepper. This is where you can have fun making new recipes without hurting your health.

Cast Iron or Stainless Steel Pans: Keep away from teflon and other materials. These pans can last forever and will not harm your health.

Spiral Vegetable Slicer: Look for one that can cut up veggies like spaghetti. Great way to substitute zucchini for pasta and you can still add all of the flavor in the sauce (hint: butter).

Try these out if you don’t have them and contact me with any questions.
