Sir Isaac Newton formulated the laws of gravitation and motion, and his achievements in science are very well known, but it is not so well known that he spent more time studying the Bible than studying the stars. He said, “There are more sure marks of authenticity in the Bible than in any profane history. All my discoveries have been made in answer to prayer. I can take my telescope and look millions of miles into space; but I can go away to my room and in prayer get nearer to God and Heaven than I can when assisted by all the telescopes of Earth.”
The heavens tell mankind of the Creator and make man accountable to that knowledge. “For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse” (Romans 1:20). The creation is a great testimony to God, but that is not His completed work in making Himself known to the world. Only through the revelation of His precious Son and the inspired word can we fully come to know His plan for us. Creation was not a accident, nor the human race by chance, and the Bible is not merely the writings of ancient men. Evidence of a divine footprint is on all three, and amazing as it might seem, we can even communicate with this divine Creator!
