Our brother passed away on July 14, 2014, after a short battle with cancer. He was a Texas Hill Country Transplant having been born and raised in the Pacific Northwest.

Phil was born in Renton, Washington on September 10, 1958 and raised for the majority of his life in the Pacific Northwest. He enjoyed getting out into the tall trees and high mountains of the region as well as being on the water. For a few years he owned and lived on a 44 foot trawler docked on Puget Sound and enjoyed going on excursions whenever he could convince someone that being his deck hand for the day “would be fun”. Looking back it was fun and not that much work.

After 20 plus years of the rat race and being a computer programmer, Phil surprised us all when he said he was moving to Texas to pursue his desire to work with animals. He found this place at the “Goat Dairy Central” with Ann DeFord where he lived and worked part time.

He worked at several places in the Blanco/Johnson City area including CJ’s and Stripes before settling in with the great folks at Ace in Johnson City. Phil enjoyed the people he worked with and those he met throughout the time he was in Texas. We now understand why he felt at home in the hill country.

Phil was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Dyer. He is survived by his brothers, Richard Dyer and wife Joanne and their sons David and Douglas, Stephen Dyer and wife Linda and Alan Dyer and wife Kimberly.

He requested that he be cremated and his ashes returned to the Pacific Northwest and spread amongst the mountains and trees that he enjoyed so much. He will be missed by us all and our prayers go with him.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers any remembrances or donations be directed to the Fredericksburg Hospice.
