We always talk about creating the Man Cave, but what about a Woman Cave? Normally we see many rooms in a home that are designated for the Woman and the Man gets the room in the garage, etc. I know in our home, we developed a Shared Cave, of course with designated areas.
If developing a room inside the home, there are so many things to consider. If you are building or remodeling you might want to consider a few of these items. If building, the room might need to be larger than an average room. Let’s think about quilters and the size of the frames some work with. Rooms above a garage come in handy. You might want to add additional storage for those into scrap booking. If you are a painter, include the room with the most lighting. As a potter, I had to have my space in the garage. So here are some ideas for various areas.
Inside your current home or just a room in your new home designs, here are some things to consider. If you are using a normal bedroom size room as your Special Area, the closet can be converted to have shelves or a built in cabinet. You can remove the closet doors (but keep them, in case you ever want to sell). Adding Peg board on the walls can be used for lots of different hanging items, pegs, and hooks. Make sure you have enough electrical plugs for sewing, lighting, or even exercise equipment. If you have exercise equipment, you might want a TV on the wall, some additional cooling via A/C and fans. Book shelves for all those that still like the old fashion reference materials verses the Internet. If you like the Internet, you might want a space for a computer. Depending on your projects, additional lighting might be necessary. Tract lights are great. Flooring just depends on your room use, Carpet verses Tile, Concrete, or Ceramic to name a few.
Outside the home, you can use part of a garage, build an additional room or shed. Depending on what you want to do, depends on what you might need to build. If using part of the garage, and you are married, well this might take some negotiations. Who gets what, where, and are the cars left out? If you have an over sized garage, you might have more room to work with. If you have a building, you might need to make some minor construction changes, like adding electric, A/C window unit, water, cabinets, etc. However, you might be into gardening and need an open type building with some closures. There are lots of gardening ideas. You can also have an outdoor exercise room. The Exercise room can be equipped with equipment, sauna, shower, and more.
So what do Women actually want in an escape area? Dreams can be a reality for you too. You can create an indoor or outdoor place to escape for those things you like to do too.
