Dear Editor,
I would like to know why Blanco County is considering putting a bridge on Middle Creek Road? I have ridden down that road with my father and I do not understand the need for a bridge at the low water crossing. No school buses cross that crossing and there is more than one way out.
My name is Veronica Segura I am 15 years old I am a sophomore at Blanco High School and I live on Chimney Valley Road. In May of 2007 myself my little sister Vivian and my father were crossing the Chimney Valley bridge on the way to school and were swept away by a wall of water. My little sister DIED that day, I almost did. There has been another death at that same bridge a young man died in February of the same year. There are 12-15 school age children living off of Chimney Valley Rd., who ride the school bus
At any given time when Blanco County has a particularly rainy season or a line of thunderstorm passes through we are in DANGER. If the heavy rains come and we are at home we CANNOT get out. If we are at school we are stuck in town looking for a place to go or the bus driver has to take a chance and cross the bridge with a bus full of kids. We are in desperate need of a better bridge on Chimney Valley Rd. Why hasn’t the county commissioner considered us? My Dad and I miss my little sister everyday and we would appreciate it if the commissioner and Blanco County would honor her and the young mans memory by making the Chimney Valley Bridge a safer place to cross.
