For the longest time, six-year-old Trent Phipps of Blanco wanted his own lemonade stand. So his dad Troy Phipps recently built him one. Trent set up in front of the Blanco National Bank during last month’s Lavender Fest and sold lemonade to raise funds for a local charity. He chose the Blanco Good Samaritan Center, which provides food, clothing and financial assistance to needy families across Blanco County.

Trent’s lemonade customers dropped bills and coins into his plastic milk jug, which he and his dad later delivered to the center. Good Samaritan volunteer Paul Montague accepted Trent’s donations, which amounted to $67.84. “We want Trent to understand how important it is to have a giving heart,” said mom Kary Phipps.

In the near future, Good Samaritan volunteers plan to give Trent a VIP tour of the center. “We appreciate our young friend so much,” said Sheryl Rodgers, president. “He’s a shining example of volunteerism in our community.”
