Stephen Hollis Clark was born August 8, 1932 in Houston, Texas and returned to his creator on June 3, 2014 with his wife of 51 years at his side in his home in Garland, Texas
Stephen is preceded in death by his parents, Hollis W. and Evelyn Floy Butts Clark and brother William Scott Clark. He is survived by wife Dorothy Jean Kneupper Clark; Daughter-Melissa Evelyn and husband Jeffrey Ross Hamm; Son-Stephen Allen and wife Laeta Kalogridis Clark; Grandchildren- Jacob Ross Hamm, Rebecca Mollie Hamm, Logan Stephenson Clark, and Miles Alexander Clark; Brother-Michael Jonathan and wife Elizabeth Wallace Clark; Sister-in-law- Mary Alba Clark; Mother-in-law- Ora Kneupper; Sister-in-law and brother-in-law- Marie Anna and Jerry Lindeman; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Stephen graduated from St. Thomas High School in Houston, attended Southern Methodist University, graduated from St. Mary’s Seminary-M.S. Theology; University of Notre Dame-M.S. Music; California Coast University- M.S. Psychology and Ph.D. Psychology.
Stephen grew up in Houston and has many fond memories of his dog, Sally and her litter of pups as well as Bertha, his Duroc-Jersey Red swine that he showed in Houston stock show. In high school, he played trumpet in his band, Steve Clark “Music for all Occasions” at rural dances and various occasions. While at SMU, he played trumpet in a band at various clubs and events in Dallas area. He was an avid reader until Alzheimers took control over this joy. He loved his pets, especially a dachshund, Keno who was at his side or on his lap. He enjoyed scuba diving, new cars, motor cycles, and camping/vacations with his family.
After college, he was ordained as a Roman Catholic priest in 1959 and served parishes in Houston. In 1962, he left the Catholic priesthood and relocated in Austin, Texas to begin a career in law enforcement, teaching, career and family counseling. In 1983, he had a calling to return to the priesthood and served as parish priest in the Anglican Church and later was consecrated as Bishop.
