Two former Blanco football players, Derek Tesch (2009) and Henry Greathouse (2010), study at and play for the Texas A&M University-Kingsland Javelinas. Derek is the team's deep snapper and plays tight end. In 2011, Derek was named to the Lone Star Conference First Team as a deep snapper and honorable mention as a tight end. Henry plays on the defensive line.
The Javelinas had to struggle back from a four game losing streak mid-season, finishing with a conference record of 5-3 and tied with Tarleton State.
In the final regular season game on November 10, Henry Greathouse made his first college sack in the fourth quarter of the game; minutes later, he scooped up a fumble and ran 16 yards for the final touchdown of the game. He was the only Javelina defensive player to score this year.
The TAMUK Javelinas have accepted an invitation to play in the Kanza Bowl Game in Topeka, Kansas, on Sunday, November 25. Kickoff is at 1:30 pm.
