Forrest Thomas Jones came into this world on March 30, 1994 and went home to our Lord April 18,2014 after suddenly collapsing at work.
At an early age Forrest was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect which caused him to not be able to participate in sports, which he loved to play. This lead him to look for another outlet for his energies, and began participating in the Leadership Training For Christ at the Church of Christ youth group in Blanco. This foundation shaped Forrest into the man he became whose laughter and smiles were always contagious and the hugs were free! Forrest also enjoyed attending Sonshine Youth Camp every summer and formed a tight bond with many, many youth from all over the state of Texas as a result. This is a shout out to his Naga Nation brotherhood.
Forrest loved life. He always lived in the moment and loved everyone, and loved to make people smile. All during high school he continued to grow spiritually by becoming a member of any youth group that would have him, and found a home at Young Life when it was started here in Blanco. He was also a part of the Panther Band drumline during high school and created some pretty amazing memories and lifelong friendships as a result. He always believed music is life and shared his love of music with everyone. Forrest had numerous mentors who shaped him into the bright shining light that we came to know and love.
Forrest graduated from Blanco High School in the class of 2012. Every day of high school was an adventure of fun for Forrest. One of the most memorable moments came during his graduation ceremony, while running back to his seat, someone in the stands yelled “Run Forrest Run!” causing an eruption of laughter.
Forrest has left a ginormous family here on Earth. He is survived by his Mom & Dad, Sybil Jones & Thomas Scruggs and little brother Cameron Scruggs from Blanco. His father, Anthony Gazaway and wife Crystal, and Step Brother Jameson Mcpherson, Step sister Calista Mcpherson of Odessa Texas. He will also be missed by many grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
A celebration of his life will be held at the First Baptist Church Saturday April 26, 2014 at 10:00 am.
The family asks that if you would like to send flowers in Forrest’s memory, please send them to your children, parent, or loved one instead. Please make any monetary donations in Forrest’s memory to Blanco County Young Life organization or the charity of your choice.
