The District 27-AA Golf Tournament was held last Monday and Tuesday at golf courses in Lago VIsta and Comfort.
The boys team finished second in the competition, and earned a Regional playoff berth in the process. It will be the fifth year in a row that Blanco has qualified for the Regional tournament.
“Another great year for the BHS golf program!” said head coach Scott Balmos.
“All five of our boys played well, but it has been Kyle Gray and Aaron Uballe that carried us on both days of the district tournament.” Both Gray and Uballe are the only remaining boys who played on last year’s state qualifying team.
Other boys on the team are Jacob Mangold, Dylan Tesch, and Mason LeBlanc.
The girls team finished in fifth place at the tournament.
“The girls are a team full of beginners,” said Balmos. “I want to thank my girls Ashley Hall, Mariah Ackerson, Vanessa Skillman, and Kayleigh Griffin for a fun year.”
“I want to thank Coach Rogers and Coach Lay for helping 27-AA run the two-day event. Great job!”
“I am proud of our boys and girls, and the BHS golf program we have built together.”
The Regional tournament will be played in at Quail Creek Country Club in San Marcos next Monday and Tuesday, with the top three teams advancing to state.
