Kristi Walker Sworn in as City Secretary (Community News)

At the April 8 regular meeting of the Blanco City Council, Kristi Walker was Sworn in as City Secretary. Her oath was taken by Mayor Chuck Homan. Kristi is a resident of Johnson City. An interview with Kristi will appear in next week’s issue.

Libbey Aly with the Chamber of Commerce Tourism Bureau wanted to remind everyone about the upcoming town hall meeting about Lavender Festival to be held April 17, 6 pm in the Byars Building. She encouraged all citizens and merchants to attended. She emphasized the importance of lodging and business owners on the square to attend. Comments and concerns will be heard at the meeting. Aly also reported another film production has expressed interest in Blanco and that a meeting with them was scheduled for Wednesday, April 9.

Retta Martin reported 111 volunteers and 3 truck and trailer “brigades” had signed up for the Trash off and River Clean Up on April 12. She asked the council for the use of some city owned tables for the event, which was granted.

Brad Farbstein invited council members and citizens to Real Ale’s 18th Anniversary Party Saturday, April 19. It is free to the public, but parking is $5 across the street.

In regular business, Dixie Hall was appointed as Election judge with Linda Uballe as alternate, Police Chief Mike Ritchey reported an improvement in the Blanco PD statistics, and a contract for City Secretary consulting was approved.
