The first in a series of special community previews, the Blanco Chamber of Commerce hosted a special preview to Chamber members of the newest installation at the Buggy Barn Museum Complex, The Blanco World War II Museum.
The Blanco County WW2 Museum provides a view of the era through a series of unique exhibits. Art of the era, on both sides, provide a backdrop for displays that focus on the background and the campaigns that led to the final victory. It is a powerful display that provides a view of the time through original images developed during the war. The effect is to capture what it was like for those who experienced those days and to record, remember, and recognize Blanco County’s contribution to the war effort. The Museum also serves as the home of LST 344, the USS Blanco County, one of the earliest of the Landing Ship, Tank (LST) eventually named after Blanco County.
Guests were treated to a special tour of the new museum as well as the Buggy Barn Museum. In addition, were given a sneak peek of the plans to expand the historic and educational offerings at this very special complex.
