Well, if you’ve heard of salvation, you may wonder what it is.
Definition: Act of saving someone or something from harm; deliverance from sin through Jesus Christ.
Do you realize when we are born, even though we’ve done nothing wrong, we are born into (or under) the curse of Adam, and therefore if we die, our spirit dies a spiritual death? Doesn’t sound fair, does it. Well, that’s not what God intended when He created the world and us humans in the image and likeness of Himself. But the first human beings, Adam and Eve, did not obey God, therefore, because of their sin, we are all born with their same sin, and God sent Jesus as the perfect sacrifice for all of us and all our sins, and we can all be redeemed from that curse by believing in Jesus Christ as God’s Son, and that He was born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, was buried and on the third day was resurrected and is now seated at the right hand of God.
Ask your pastors, but as far as I understand God’s Word, that’s how we receive our salvation; through faith and belief in Jesus Christ. He came to save all of us who will believe in Him.
It is written in John 11:25-27 “25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?
27 She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world.”
We can’t do a derned thing to earn it. And, some say we can’t lose it either. But that, my friends, is something each one of us needs to think about because it is written in Philippians 2:12 “Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.”
We need to study to show ourselves approved, and figure out for ourselves if we want to risk purposefully sinning or living “in the flesh” as in fulfilling lustful desires or being drunk with mind altering substances. That could be risking our spiritual life, because Jesus did say “watch” therefore, because Jesus will come back “as a thief in the night” and we should all remain sober. Sober not just as in sober in mind, but also sober in seriously trying to live right and striving to know God, so the intents of our heart are sincerely seeking God’s Kingdom, with clean, pure motives, as in “sincerely” seeking to know Jesus, the Door or Gate to Heaven. See John 10:7-9.
I’m studying salvation and will probably be writing about it as I learn of it in depth. It sounds simple, but I have questions, do you? Well, I’m digging in. The following parable is preached on often. Please read it and “Selah!” (that means think about it)
Matthew 25: 1-13 “Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
2 And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
3 They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:
4 But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
5 While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.
6 And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.
7 Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.
8 And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.
9 But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.
10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.
11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.
13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.”
Now, why do you think He said “I know you not?”
“I know you not” is seen in other Scriptures. Challenge for you to find! Until next week, may you be blessed by our Lord, in all ways.
