Calling Central Texas home isn’t new for Victoria Celestine, but it has been awhile. “It’s really nice to be back in Blanco after 8 years across the sea. It’s definitely always been a home even when I was gone. It was the first home that I ever lived in from 0 to 3 years old, and it’s great to be here again.” she told Blanco County News. The rising singer/songwriter is releasing a new album, “Back Home in San Antone”, during a release party at Sam’s Burger Joint in San Antonio on March 13 at 8pm.
You may have heard her play at the Redbud Cafe here in Blanco, or at other venues around Central Texas, but Victoria is anything but just getting started.
Victoria picked up the guitar at age 13 with Bobby Flores, at his Bulverde Academy of Music, and began writing songs the following summer (2010). Producer Gordon Raphael caught her singing during the next Christmas holidays, and invited her to record her first 7 songs acoustically. The following April, she recorded her debut album at age 14, “From the Outside”, with Jacob Sciba, at Pedernales Studios, in Austin, Tx. She received “Best Female Teen Artist of the Year”, from Indie Music Channel at the House of Blues in Hollywood, and then received 2nd place (teen category) from the International Songwriting Competition for the song “In The World”.
At age 16, Victoria completed the new full length album “Back Home in San Antone”. Victoria wrote the Lyrics and Music of all the songs except the 2 covers Adoro and Crazy, and co-wrote with Juanito and Severo the ‘Back Home in San Antone’ title track, which clearly depicted, (with mostly her lyrics after Juanito and Sevy got her started with the music and chorus), her feelings about this, her beautiful hometown. She also produced the cover art depicting the yellow rose of San Antonio.
Victoria has been awarded finalist of several singer/songwriter competitions with the songs “Homework” and “Clouds”, both off the new album, and is still in the running on the International Acoustic Music Awards (Best Female and AAA/Alternative) and the International Songwriting Competition.
This young talent is sure to continue making waves in the music industry, and Blanco get’s to call her “one of our own.”
