String trios tend to conjure up an image of three “penguin-looking” individuals sitting in their tuxes performing lyrical and technical works from the Baroque and Classical Periods. Change that image! Three young energetic individuals with credentials from The Curtis Institute with a flair for bluegrass, country-western, jazz, improv, hip-hop…after considerable experimentation…evolved into a charismatic ensemble with a reputation for limitless enthusiasm and no musical boundaries. Described as monsters of both ability and technique, but passionate and conveyers of an infectious joy! (Photo Courtesy of Amanda Reynolds)

Opportunity Knocks! You have the opportunity to attend a live performance that features the guest soloists recently heard on the Labor Day concert with the National Symphony on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol! Racing off to the Indy 500, they have also performed the National Anthem at this annual event billed as The Greatest Spectacle in Racing. More credentials? Kennedy Center, Carnegie Hall, the exclusive Club Yoshi in San Francisco, along with annual visits to Paul Newman’s “Hole In The Wall Gang” camp for children with terminal illnesses. How does Boerne Champion Auditorium fit into the mix?

Because Time for Three, world’s first classically-trained garage band, will be making their Boerne debut on Tuesday, March 25, to mark the final performance of the Boerne Performing Arts 2014 three-concert series. As with all events presented by this new organization, this evening will once again provide world-class entertainment with a zest and style that has been provided by their previous 8 sold-out events! Tickets are available and if you’ve not yet been to one of these exciting evenings, this might be a good time to check it out!

The late Paul Newman commented on these three young musicians, “To hear these three young guys is to be thankful that music was invented. If I had been able to create a sound like these kids a few years back, I might have thought twice about going into acting!”

In addition to its demanding performance schedule, the trio is committed to reaching younger audiences and Boerne area students will be the fortunate recipients of a special in-school program that will be presented to 1,000 students on Wednesday, March 26. Time for Three’s recent YouTube anti-bullying video “Stronger” has been featured on CNN and the Huffington Post, and has provided inspiration for students around the globe.

This event is made possible through the generous sponsorships of Boerne Convention & Visitors Bureau, Cordillera Ranch, Hearts’ Home Acoustics and J.R. Mooney Galleries. These businesses make it possible for our students to embrace an exhilarating performance that will also touch on lessons of life. Likewise, all Boerne residents are fortunate for the interest and support of these performing arts sponsors.

So whether you have the desire to hear something by The Beatles, Katy Perry, Bach, Mumford & Sons, Brahms, or Charlie Rouse, Time for Three will perform their wide array of works in Boerne on Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets ($30-$40-$60) are available in person at Boerne Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce; by phone at 830-331-9079; or online at www.boerneperformingarts.com.
