Keep America Beautiful's Great American Cleanup takes place every year beginning March 1st and continuing through May 31st. More than 3 million volunteers across the USA participate in this, America’s largest, improvement program. In Blanco, the Keep Blanco Beautiful Trash-Off will be held Saturday April 12. More than 100 volunteers from the Blanco community roam the roads, paths, waterways and ditches collecting litter. Other activities include cleaning the Blanco River of fishing line, bottles and fast food trash so the River will continue to be a healthy environment for wild life and recreation.
Some facts about last year’s Clean-Up:
74 trash bags full of litter were collected
90 youth participated
45 adults helped out
6 40 yd roll-offs were filled at the City Yard
4 20 yd roll offs were needed
2 30 yd containers of metal were sent for recycling
