At the end of the Bindsiel Park trail, a sign that reads “State Park Boundary” is currently the only thing keeping out non-paying visitors.

Thanks to a Grant from PEC, the Blanco State Park will be installing a new security portal at the Park’s entrance to the Bindsiel Park trail. The portal will be architecturally pleasing and provide safety and security for the Park, especially during weekend and heavy use periods. The security portal will allow access to patrons with a Texas State Park Pass throughout the week. However, the portal will be secured during the weekends and as needed for security or safety reasons.

Further, as many know, the Texas Parks and Wildlife system has been under fire recently from the State Legislature as they seek to trim the state budget. Our State Park has seen numerous instances of visitors entering the park through the Bindsiel trail entrance to avoid paying the entrance fee. The new security portal will help prevent the revenue loss associated with those entering the Park without paying, thus helping to insure the continuing viability of the Park.

In summary, there are many exciting things happening in our Blanco State Park. Spring time is just around the corner and a perfect time to visit your Park! Come visit if you want to do nothing more than take a relaxing “walk in the Park”. Or bring your kids to introduce them to fishing, swimming, or kayaking. The Blanco State Park is the “jewel” of Blanco.
