As we make our New Years Resolutions, why not include your home? Your home might need some things done. So let’s think about some things you might want to do for your home.
Let’s start with making a list of the things we would like to do to our home. Include everything on this list. We can then go back and prioritize and see which ones can be a reality. Start with really big things you might want to do, down to the little things. Once you get your list done, you might want to meet with a builder to discuss the big things and how much they will cost. On the smaller stuff, you might be able to handle them yourself.
On the big things, you might have adding a room onto your home. This will take talking to a builder, getting a plan, cost, and schedule. You might want to add a new porch on the back, but will need the old one torn off. Demo and designs will be necessary with the new porch. Maybe a pool and landscaping for the back yard is the dream for the new year. Check out different pool companies and landscape companies. Have a plan on what you can afford, what you are willing to spend, and when you want it done.
On the smaller stuff, they can really vary. We are talking about, things from de-cluttering, painting, different flooring, new ceiling fans, changing appliances, painting the porch, adding some wall paper, or anything else that doesn’t require major construction. Some things you might be able to do, some you might want to hire out.
Just make that list and start marking items off. You will be amazed at how much you can accomplish with a list. You can even make this a family fun project time. Divide tasks and everyone can participate. Now is the time to plan for the up coming year. As we prepare our budgets, its always good to add some of these items in.
