Charles Rodney Jones, born August 5, 1940 in New Braunfels, TX, passed away January 6, 2014 in Blanco. He spent his early years near Fischer & Smithson Valley. In 1946 his family bought the ranch in Blanco where he still resided.
Charles attended school in Blanco where he met Anna Lee Pehl, his high school sweetheart. They would have been married 55 years in February. He was preceded in death by his parents; Rodney Barb Jones and Helen Tillie Meyer Jones.
Survivors are his wife of 54 years Ann Lee Jones, son Charles Michael Jones and wife Susan and daughter Sandra Ann Gustafson and husband Matt; seven wonderful grandchildren that he adored; Justin Jones and wife Veronica, Travis Jones, Chelsea Harvey, Cody Harvey, Victoria Jones, Robert Jones, Ryan Edwards, two step grandchildren, Alex and Hunter Gustafson, as well as four very special great grandchildren; Grant, Scout and Lovely Jones, and Charlee Harvey.
Charles was involved with his children and grandchildren; enjoying school activities, sports and especially raising and exhibiting animals at the county as well as many major shows. He was looking forward to all the same activities with the great grandchildren.
He served on the Board of Directors for the Blanco County Youth Council, Board of Directors for Cattlemans National Bank, was Blanco County Commissioner for Pct 1 and was a big help to accomplish the bridge over the Blanco River on the Old Kendalia Road. Charles also served on the Blanco ISD board of trustees.
Charles and his family owned and operated Hill County Liquors for 30 years, C. J.’s Convenience Store, a flower shop for many years and Blanco General Feed and Convenience Store. Besides retail he was an active Rancher.
Visitation was held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at Crofts – Crow Funeral Home in Blanco. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday morning with Pastor Ken Greene officiating.
