Blanco Middle School, with strong performances across all grade levels and categories, out performed five other schools and won the District 27-AA UIL Academic Meet held Wednesday at Blanco Middle School.
“I am super excited and proud of how well the students did at the meet,” said middle school UIL coordinator Stephanie Taylor. “Blanco Middle School students really stepped up and showed off their true talents.”
“This is just another reflection of their intelligence, hard work, dedication, and pride they have for themselves and their school.”
Thoughts from the competitors:
Kolby Marek, 6th Grade, ”It felt really good to win in
art. I studied a lot because I wanted us to win. Our art
team brought in 121 points for our school.”
Middle School District UIL Meet Team Totals were, Blanco 1007, Johnson City 516, Comfort 433.3, Lago Vista 421.3, Austin Harmony 347.3 and Ingram 229.
Taylor Kotfas, 7th Grade, ”I feel great about the huge win. I love UIL because I love how I can make new
friends from other schools. I also love the opportunity to work hard and to do well at competition.”
Mia Albrecht, 8th Grade, ”I love competing in UIL at BMS. The experience is amazing. It is fun to win and to
meet people that are interested in and compete in the same events.”
Madison Kneese, 8th Grade, “It was very fun to compete. I would like to thank all of my UIL coaches for working so hard with me. They helped me do my best.”
Principal Keitha St. Clair said, “I am so proud of the BMS Panthers. Early this year we talked about Blanco’s legacy of winning the district UIL meet. The students were determined to maintain that legacy.”
“I really appreciate the dedication and hard work of both the students and the academic coaches/teachers. The Panthers did not just win, they won by 491 points. That is commendable.”
Middle School UIL coordinator Taylor added, “I want to thank all of the sponsors who worked with the students to help them prepare to be so successful in their events. Our staff did an excellent job in planning, preparing , and delivering such a great meet. I am really thankful for our staff at Blanco Middle School.”
