Uptown Blanco Arts and Entertainment celebrated another Grand Opening and ribbon cutting on December 6th. The event took place at the Textile Studio which occupies the building on the corner of 4th and Main. Uptown Blanco Restaurant presented a wonderful selection of Hors d’Oeuvres and BJ’s Bakery of Blanco offered a fabulous assortment of homemade cookies.
Renee Benson began the evening with a welcome message and Ribbon Cutting to officially open the Studio. Then representatives of the Wimberley Quilt Guild, Marble Falls Quilt Guild, New Braunfels Quilt Guild and Blanco Quilters on the Square entered after anxiously awaiting their first view of the studio.
The new Textile Studio is stunning with its towering handcrafted woodwork that includes working and display spaces. It also offers sewing areas, and layout and storage spaces where members can leave their working projects on site.
Andrea Meegan, the Textile Studio’s manager said, “The Textile Studio's main focus will be the workshop space. Beginner to Advanced members will find courses in a vast array of subjects. There will be courses in cloth doll making, crocheting, knitting, painting on fabric and, of course, quilting. Come make the Studio your space. We will even give you your own drawer to leave your supplies in, so you don't have to cart it back and forth.”
The studio will have something going on daily. On Monday morning they will start the week off with one of four different “Society Days”. They will be social gatherings to work and discuss projects together. Tuesday mornings will be dedicated to a Civil War Sampler. “We are open Monday-Saturday 9:30-5:30 and on Thursdays we will be open until 8:00pm. Whether you want to learn a new technique, or just want to come enjoy all the beautiful fabrics, the Studio is now open and ready for you!” Andrea added.
The Textile Studio is a wonderful addition to the Blanco Square and to Uptown Blanco Arts and Entertainment.
