Patsy Ann Patterson Youngblood, age 74, passed away on November 20, 2013, in San Antonio where she has resided since 1998. Patsy was born May 7, 1939 in Austin, Texas to Bruce and Ann Pfau Patterson. She was raised by her loving Grandmother Beulah Saunders Patterson, formerly of Blanco, who lost her husband, Patsy’s grandfather Lige Patterson shortly after she was born. She met her lifelong best friend Avalon Fiedler Burrows in 2nd grade and together they experienced all the fun of growing up in Austin in the ‘50’s. Her first car was a red ’57 Chevy convertible and also in 1957 she graduated from Travis High School.
She met Wayne Richard Youngblood of Cypress Mill, TX at the Skyline Club on North Lamar. They married and raised 3 children. She always said raising her kids was the greatest joy of her life. Her family of 5 was very close, always involved in school activities and non-stop fun in the summertime. They moved to Dripping Springs in 1976 where Richard and Renee attended school.
In 1998 she moved to San Antonio after reconnecting with her mother to help care for her. Shortly thereafter she began what she called her new teenage years. She then met her loving partner Tom Abbott of San Antonio and they remained nearly inseparable until her death.
She is survived by her former husband, Wayne Youngblood of Cypress Mill, TX, daughter Kathy Youngblood of Austin, son Wayne Richard Youngblood, Jr. and wife Nadine, grandsons Ryan and Jack Youngblood, all of Round Rock and E. Renee Youngblood of San Antonio.
A memorial service was held Friday, December 6, 2013 at 2:00 PM in the St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Cypress Mill, Texas. Interment followed in Goeth-Wenmohs Cemetery in Cypress Mill. Memorial contributions may be made to Tracy’s Dogs, 11765 West Avenue #141, San Antonio, TX 78216.
