Six Panther Band students were named to the Region 12 All Region Band following competition held Monday at Canyon Lake High School.
“I thought our students did great!” said Band Director Brian Hecimovich. “There are over 30 schools at this competition, and all must compete against each other no matter the school size or grade level.”
Blanco students who were named to the All Region Band were: Jeremy Kindla (Trumpet, Freshmen), Sebastian Thomas (Baritone Saxophone, Freshmen), Christina Cortes (Clarinet, Sophomore), Helen Kasberg (Clarinet, Sophomore), Charity Windham (Percussion, Sophomore), Michael Bagley (Alto Saxophone, Junior).
“Each year over the past three years, Blanco has sent more and more students to the All Region Band, and this year shows even more promise because two freshmen and three sophomores all made the band.”
Sophomore percussionist Charity Windham received second place in the 1A/2A division, and will advance to the Area auditions in January for a chance to be a part of the Texas All State Band.
“Charity is a wonderful student,”said Hecimovich. “She is at the top of her class, and gives 100% to everything she does. She worked very hard this year, even coming in over the Thanksgiving break and practicing. She is to be commended!”
Hecimovich added,”I am very proud of our students. The music is very difficult, and many students want to try out, but quickly decide not to due to the hard work it takes to learn the music.”
“Overall, we had fifteen students try out, and everyone of them worked hard and is a better musician because of it.”
“Go Band! To The Top!”
