Groundbreaking for Naturescape Activity Center Set for November 21 (Community News)

The Friends of Blanco State Park are starting an exciting project. They will be constructing a naturescape activity center in Blanco State Park. It will be the "first of its kind" in the TPWD park system.

So just what is a Naturescape Activity Center or NAC? A NAC combines the fun activities of a playground with the wonders of nature. Children will be able to climb on big boulders, scale a mini rock wall, weave their way among native grasses and butterfly-attracting plants. The NAC provides a chance for kids to learn about their natural world while engaging in all those physical activities that support their development.

Research shows that children are healthier, happier, better able to learn and improve performance in the classroom when they spend more time outside. Thanks to a grant from LCRA and generous donations from area businesses, the NAC will provide a wonderful opportunity for children and their families from across Texas to play and learn in our very own Blanco State Park.

Please join them on Thursday, November 21, at 3:00 at Blanco State Park for the groundbreaking ceremony and learn more about the benefits of getting children in nature and the new Blanco State Park Naturescape and Activity Center.
