From L-R: Larry Kuebel, Levi Windham, Sally Windham, Daniel Windham, and Joe Lockwood.

Levi Windham, Blanco Boy Scout Troop 497, has earned the highest rank in Scouting, the Rank of Eagle Scout. On October 19th a ceremony was held at Carriage Hall to present this award to Levi. An award only a few Scouts earn. Levi is the son of Daniel and Sally Windham of Blanco.

To earn his Eagle, Levi had to progress thru 6 Scouting ranks, earn a minimum of 21 merit badges, demonstrate Scout Spirit, and demonstrate leadership in the troop. He had to plan, develop, and lead a service project— the Eagle Project —that demonstrated both leadership and a commitment to duty.

Larry Kuebel, Assistant Scoutmaster, was Master of Ceremony. Keith McClellan, Eagle Scout and NESA Representative, told the Story of the Eagle. Scoutmaster Joe Lockwood, presented Levi with his Eagle Scout Medal. Eagle Scout Phillip Windham, Levi’s brother, was a member of the Honor Guard escort. The ceremony was attended by a group of about 40 family members, Scouts and friends.

American Legion Post 352 and the Blanco Auxiliary 352 made special presentations to Levi. Commander Teddy Weeks presented him with a US Flag and past Commander Bruce presented Levi with a Texas Flag that had been flown over the State Capitol Building.

Levi thanks his family, and the scouts and leaders of Troop 497 for their help. And special thanks to the Blanco United Methodist Church for sponsoring the local Scout troop.
