Blanco Performing Arts is delighted to present Outside the Music Box, the fourth season of stellar classical music concerts in the beautiful Uptown Blanco Ballroom. The new season promises to expand musical horizons with passionate and energetic artists who move beyond the familiar musical box with sounds that inspire, delight, and often surprise.
The season opens on Saturday, October 26 at 7:30 pm with the captivating pianist, Washington Garcia. Now from Texas, Dr. Garcia has performed in his home country, Ecuador, throughout South America, in Asia, and the USA, and charmed audiences last year at his Austin Symphony performance of Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1.
Audience favorite REVEL, the classical band, returns for a special holiday concert on Thursday, December 19. Combine this concert with reservations at the fine Uptown Blanco Restaurant as a gift to your special friends and family.
The Zenith Quintet, four saxophones and piano, on February 1 will truly move listeners outside of the musical box. Their concert, Games On, includes music by Baroque composer Vivaldi, Argentine tango composer Piazzolla, and their own arrangement of video game themes.
The Texas Guitar Quartet on March 22 brings the talented international contest prize winning artists with their own arrangements of classical pieces and new works. Expect an exhilarating performance!
Blanco's own Julia Pautz returns on Sunday, June 1 at 3:00 with Austin pianist, Maimy Fong, for an afternoon of something old and something new. Declared a "genuine virtuoso" by the Dallas Morning News, Julia’s concert is a perfect ending to thinking outside the box.
Season tickets are now on sale both on the website www.blancoperformingarts.com or by calling 830-385-1173. A season ticket purchase amounts to receiving one concert for free. Senior and student discounts also apply.
