Betty Jean died September 16, 2013 at Ghost Creek Ranch in Blanco, Texas. She was born July 2, 1925 in Oklahoma City to Col. Clint T. Johnson and Ruth Ester (Smith) Johnson. Her big brother was Bernard T. Johnson.
Betty attended the University of Oklahoma where she met and eventually married Dale J. Patterson, a dashing young aviation cadet in 1944.
After WWII, Dale and Betty, with their two young children, Michael Dale and Patricia Ann, began a 40 year adventure in the international oil business. Over the years the family moved from Oklahoma to Texas, then on to Venezuela, Canada and Scotland, with many side trips back to Houston which eventually became home.
Betty Jean is survived by her son Michael and wife Terri. Daughter Patricia Ann and husband Randy. Three granddaughters Tracy Chiari and husband Romano, Kerri Taylor and husband David, Becki Hayes and husband Mike. Her great-grandchildren Austin Falwell, Madeline Falwell, Erin Chiari, Ryan Chiari, Travis Taylor, Rebecca Taylor, Sarah Taylor, Eden Hayes, and Everleigh Hayes.
Betty wanted to send very special thanks to Angels for Elders, Wimberly, especially her caregivers Blanca, Flora, Margie, and Paula. We are forever grateful for the guidance and love shown by the staff at Hill Country Memorial Hospice.
