“Thus saith the Lord the maker thereof, the Lord that formed it, to establish it; the Lord is his name; Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.” Jeremiah 33:2-3 KJV
Call out to God if you wish to know Him. Use your tongue for something good (for yourself!), and speak out loud to God. He hears everything you say, and will not ignore you.
Exodus 33:11 “And the Lord spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. And he turned again into the camp: but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle.”
2 Chronicles 20:7 “Art not thou our God, who didst drive out the inhabitants of this land before thy people Israel, and gavest it to the seed of Abraham THY FRIEND for ever?”
Abraham was God’s friend. Have you ever wondered how Abraham had such a deep rooted love for God and/or why he trusted God so much?
James 2:23 “And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.”?
Abram’s father was Terah, whose father was Shem. Shem was one of Noah’s sons who had been inside the ark for 40 days and nights when it rained, and all the living beings on the earth drowned. He watched his father, Noah, and probably helped him build the ark. Shem saw his daddy’s faith and belief in God and watched how God fulfilled everything He had spoken to Noah.
Abraham’s daddy (Terah) and grand-daddy (Shem) must have told all their children of all these things, and so he believed in and trusted God so much (because He knew He was REAL) that he would have sacrificed his son, Isaac, because God told him to, and when Isaac asked his daddy where the sacrifice was, that they were going to sacrifice to God, Abraham told Isaac “My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.” Genesis 22:8
He didn’t tell him it was himself who was to be the sacrifice. He told him God would provide the sacrifice, and God did! I have to point out that Abraham spoke what was not, believing and trusting in God to provide what was not as though it was, until it was; believing it would be. Did you get that?
Have you ever studied how God and Jesus spoke? God spoke in present and past tense.
But, let’s get back to my topic; being a friend of God.
I guess you’ve noticed that some people are closer to God than others. They may even say something like “God told me …” and you probably thought they’re nuts.
Do you believe God will speak to us? He can and He does. God is amazing. He loves us so much, that when we decide to walk with Him and talk to Him, He will surprise us and show us He does have His eye on us and is teaching and leading us, and He will speak to you; and has spoken to me. Praise HIM!!!
God’s Word shows us that we can have intimacy with HIM, and it’s all up to us how strong our relationship is with Him. Everyone has been extended the same open invitation to “fearlessly and confidently and boldly draw near to the throne of grace” in Hebrews 4:16. At this moment you are as close to God as you've chosen to be.
May I ask you a personal question?
Have you ever strived to show others who you are?
Have you ever written a lengthy, detailed letter to someone and then wondered why you went to such great detail? Did you see at that time that you were trying to explain yourself so that SOMEONE would understand the real you?
Have you ever felt like no one really knows you?
Well, I’m here to tell you that God knows you inside and out and HE cares about you, and HE gave you life, and HE loves YOU so very, very much. He loves all of us, and that’s why He sent Jesus to live and die as the perfect sacrifice for all our sins, so that we too, will be resurrected unto eternal life if we would just believe in Jesus as the Son of God and Son of Man; as our LORD and Saviour, and submit our lives over to Him and follow Him and learn of Him through His Holy Word.
I can’t print all of it due to space, but if you can get your hands on a Bible, read Psalm 137 in its entirety.
“16 Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.
17 How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!” Psalm 137:16-17
“Thus saith the Lord the maker thereof, the Lord that formed it, to establish it; the Lord is his name; Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.” Jeremiah 33:2-3 KJV
