Local Boy Scout, Kenny Standridge, comes from three generations of military men. His family served in World War 2, the Korean War, the Vietnam War and the Panamanian Conflict.
Understanding the sacrifices our service men and women make on behalf of our country, Kenny sincerely desired to serve our veterans through his last requirement for Eagle Scout.
Kenny met with the Legion officers to present his project proposal in November of 2012. Kenny's project would include five phases of improvements to the Legion's meeting facility.
Upon approval by the Eagle Scout Board and the Legion, Kenny and a host of volunteers numbering 25, worked laboriously to complete the task before them.
At the moment of victory, when the troops stepped back to view the finished product, the sad state of our veterans’ 65-year-old building was magnified when coupled with all the improvements made by Kenny.
Inspired by this Boy Scout's accomplishment, a vision for a complete facelift of the American Legion Post was born. Through the generosity and support of the Blanco, Johnson City and Spring Branch communities, the final stages of this enormous transformation come to a close.
The American Legion would like to extend a grateful invitation to our dedicated and selfless communities to celebrate with our Veterans at their Open House on Friday, August 9th.
The ribbon cutting will commence at 4pm with an array of food and refreshments that will be served at your convenience until 8:00PM.
Over $500 in Door Prizes will be given as well throughout the festivities.
Vision is the gift of seeing clearly what may be. The American Legion Memorial Post 352 would like to take this opportunity to say thank you. The vision would not have come to fruition without the collective support and generosity of so many.
