Life can be really tough. Sometimes we feel as though our life is shaken to its very foundation. It's then that we find out how deep we have dug. What everything is really built on. Who we really are. We find out how important it is to have a really good foundation.
Just as there is a difference in building upon rock as opposed to sand, there is a difference in following our Lord and following the words of men. "Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to - a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like - a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall" (Matthew 7:24-27).
In this little story, storms came to both the wise builder and the foolish one. This cannot be avoided in the world in which we live. Yet, only one of the houses stood. It makes a difference, the values we have, the things we believe in. It makes all the difference in the world - and beyond!
