I still haven’t gotten a clue about an organization that existed in Blanco County called “Snearly Alliance No. 2904.” I do know that this organization existed due to minutes from its meetings, even though these minutes were very vague, sparse, or just a line in a small book, with dates in the late 1800s. Very few events were recorded but this organization met and had members, some of which were the citizens of Blanco and Johnson City. The organization also had a seal they used. The seal simply says Snearly Alliance Blanco County. From research, I did find that families named Snearly lived in Blanco County during this period in time but most of these families seemed to be farmers.

OK, now, readers - this is your opportunity to tell me what you think this organization might have been. Just send me a note at PO Box 153, Blanco, Texas 78606. I will use your suggestions to do research and see if all of us together can solve this mystery for the lady who brought this to me. She will be very happy if we do solve the mystery.

I recently attended the Blanco County Historical Commission meeting in Hye, Texas. It was an amazing night. Who knew the great stories that happened in Hye? I was ashamed to find that our museum has nothing on the history of Hye, so I will work to correct this error.

Now about the county historical commission - if you wish to become a member, please submit an application. I will be glad to send you an application or you can contact Sherry Jenkins, the head of the Blanco Historical Commission. Members are only accepted in odd years so you can come to the meeting but you won’t have the right to vote until you become a member. Oh, you say, it is an odd year; well, members have already been chosen by the county commissioners for the 2013 year so you will have to wait until 2015. I highly recommend joining the Historical Commission because honoring and preserving our heritage is an honor and Blanco County has a lot of history we should not forget.
