The 8th grade Panthers lost to the Rogers Eagles 12-26 on Thursday, October 4. The Panthers struck first on an outstanding play by Cameron Martinez as he stripped the ball from an Eagle runner and carried it 35 yards for the Blanco touchdown. The 2 point attempt failed. The Panthers led 6-0 at the end of the 1st quarter. Quarterback Garrett Seales completed a pass to Sebastion Thomas who ran the ball to the 2 yard line. The Rogers defense held firm, taking the ball over on downs. The Panthers led at the half, 6-0.
Rogers quickly scored a touchdown in the 3rd quarter and added the 2 point conversion to take the lead 6-8. Blanco bounced back with a 65 yard score by Cameron Martinez, however, on the extra point attempt the Eagles recovered a Panther fumble and ran the ball to their end zone for 2 points. The Panthers led 12-10 with 6:43 in the 3rd quarter. Rogers scored another touchdown in the 3rd quarter and again in the 4th quarter. They also added a 2 point conversion to take the win with a 12-26 final score.
Luis Elizondo and Kailen Webster also carried the ball for Blanco. Outstanding tackles were made by Seales, Guarjardo, Elizondo, Webster, Coggins, Martinez, Mangold, Robinson, Enriquez, and Guerrero.
