On Friday, November 2, the Buggy Barn Museum, located at 125 Moore Lane (off of US Highway 281) in Blanco, will be transformed to a scene out of a Wild West movie.
The inaugural Western Showcase, continuing through the weekend, will be the site of the 11th Annual 2012 Central United States Knife and Tomahawk Throwing World Championship. Professional knife and tomahawk throwers from all over the world will be coming to Blanco to compete in these events. Current World Champion Knife Thrower Pierre Tavoulet and World Champion Tomahawk Thrower Richard Sunderland will be in attendance.
The knife throwing world championship events are set for 9am on Friday and Saturday, with the world championship tomahawk events set for 1pm on both days.
Beginning at 9am on Sunday morning, the world championship games commence with events such as long-distance knife throw and knife fast draw.
The weekend’s festivities also include entertainment by “The Rhinestone Roper” Dan Mink, named 2011 Western Performer of the Year, with three performances each day at noon, 3pm, and 5:30pm. Jack Dagger, known as the King of Fling and a world renowned knife-throwing comedian will perform, as will the “One Sharp Marriage” team of Mike and Rosa Gross. “Buffalo Bill” Leighton, a teller of tall tales, showman, horseman, and rifleman, will be on hand to welcome visitors.
Musical performances by Jean Prescott and K.R. Wood will set the tone for the weekend. Johnson City Rangers will be bringing their chuck wagon group for the Chuck Wagon Cook-off and Saturday meal.
Rounding out the weekend’s events are tours for the Buggy Barn Museum, carriage rides, a kids’ corral, riding longhorn, food vendors, craft vendors, and silent auction, plus a dance on Saturday night.
So much fun in one weekend! Please make plans to attend this amazing event! Admission is $10/per person per day or $20 per person for a full weekend pass. Children under 5 years of age are free. The chuck wagon meal tickets are $10 per plate and the dance is $10.
